James Austin
A social scientist and theologian with a M.A. and M.Phil. from Yale University and M.Div. from Duke Divinity School, who stands at the intersection of faith, science, and history, and uses sensible reasoning to find answers to the fundamental questions of human existence for the new millenium. God is about the future, not the past.
Points in My Journey
While a Lilly Fellow at Duke Divinity School, I studied with several of the leading theologians of the 20th century, Profs. Stanley Hauerwas, Ellen Davis, and Richard Hays, and developed a new method of reading called “iconic reading.” Using the rules of iconic reading, readers discover how to read the stories of Genesis like screenplays and discover new insights that fit the 21st century and beyond.
Let’s Talk
One thing is certain: all of us are on a spiritual journey, from the moment we are born until the moment we leave this life. No matter what our tradition and beliefs, even if we have no definite beliefs at all, we all end up in the same place with much the same questions.
Our journeys will make more sense and have more meaning the sooner we ask the questions deep within. Do you have some questions you’ve always wanted to ask about life? Faith? Your journey? Let’s talk.
